From the Lackawanna Ferry Terminal, there were 3 ferry routes to Manhattan: 23rd St, Christopher St (directly across the Hudson) and Barclay St. From the Mhtn terminals commuters would walk or take transit. Barclay St was the only route still in operation when ferry service was abandoned in late 1967. At the end, the ferries ran on 15 min headways 7a-7p weekdays with additional trips during rush hour. As always this is subject to correction by those more knowledgable. Lynn, your posts are more consistently "list content" than those of a lot of members (including mine). IIRC one of the ex-EL ferries is now a floating restaurant in Edgewater. Although the interior is probably nothing like the original form, it might be interesting to check out. Paul B Would someone enlighten this west end guy? How did commuters on the DL&W lines get to jobs in NYC? I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I tend to focus more on the Erie side of things on the east end.
