Yes, Tom,
I used to drive the back way to Binghamton to cover jobs there on
the DL side. That involved going up the Sullivan Trail through Falls, Pa.
then to Tunkhannock, from there I'd drive to Montrose (crossing the Lehigh
Valley Montrose branch several times - never saw a train) finally from
Montrose I'd take Snake Creek road to emerge a few miles below Conklin. All
2 laners & forget it when snowing. The alternative was to drive to Scranton
then the interstate 80 to Binghamton. Either way a hour & 1/2 drive. When
they called u, u'd better have ur grip packed & ready to head out the door.
In other words 12 hours away for 8 hours pay.
