RE: (erielack) Mountainville
Sand quarries in Rockland, not that I ever heard of, but trap rock in
Thiells/ Mt. Ivy and Suffern were definitely carried on the NJ&NY and
Piermont Branch respectively.
The Haverstraw station can be seen in "The Pascack Valley Line" by Wilson
Jones.

Subject: (erielack) Mountainville
Anyone know anything about Mountainville just south of Vails Gate?
When I worked in the area about 25 years ago it looked like it had about a
dozen homes, one large, barn like building and a factory near by (maybe I
didn't see the town itself). Hard to believe that it once had a railroad
stop.
Also, were sand quarries in Orange and Rockland counties ever serviced by
the Erie?
Anone have a good photo of the Erie Haverstraw station? It's in the
background of a photo in the "Diamondbugs" book.
