(erielack) Mountainvlle



Mountainville is located just north of the Star factory (Star drills, anyone?) and used to be on the Newburgh Short Cut.  The railroad station became a town building -- the library? -- and used to be visible from the northbound Thruway (to the passengers in th car; the driver better keep his eyes on the car full of family in front of him and the semi coming up behind.)

The right of way north of Mountainville used to be pretty visible, even had track on it.  South of there it's pretty obscure but probably could be hiked (except for crossing the Thruway) until over-ridden by the Graham Line.

Had the tunnel under Bull Hill and the bridge over the Hudson ever been built, Mountainville might have achieved greater importance.  However . . .
