(erielack) Erie GP-9's 1260-5

My friend, Nate Clark, copied me part of a discussion he was in about these 
units. I was incorrect that Erie didn't have any GP-9's and relooked at my 
references concurred with Nate that they did have 6. Some of you were on 
the conversation.

Question is: why did Erie buy these 6 units in 1956? Was it to supplement 
F-units on road freights, since steam was gone for 4 years by then?
