Out our way, we always called either move a "Drop." It was quite common to do 
this with an experienced crew, and have done it many times. As Bob says, this 
time saving maneuver has gone by the wayside along with good dispatching. 

On our eastbound train out of Rawlins, WY yesterday afternoon, lo and behold. 
The care right behind the engines was CR 294784, formerly EL 92221. Loaded 
with autoparts for a Ford plant in Michigan.
