Re: (erielack) NJ TransitNJDOT question
There were indeed enough cars for several train sets. One train ran pretty
consistently during weekdays with a solid set of BN and ancestor cars, and
was known locally as the "Bay Head Empire Builder". I recall seeing the
train in Asbury Park or Deal in 1976. By the early 80s-no later than
1983-all had been repainted.
The NY&LB also became the repository for all the NJDOT/NJT E units,
including a handful of ex PRR E-7's(never saw them run) and CR 4014, which I
believe was EL 825. Never saw that one either.
