Re: (erielack) picking interlocking machines

What most listers don't know is just how close SN tower was to Leavittsburg Hardware. If you look at the map here: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/map/leavittsburg.gif , Leavittsburg Hardware would be on the west side of Gilmer St. (now Leavitt Rd.) immediately north of and adjacent to the EL ROW. Not far to go for a piece of window glass!

Great story, Steve.

Subject: (erielack) picking interlocking machines

(snip)

The ICC Inspector noted that the box on the wall had the big lock unlocked
so the operators could get the indicator key without breaking the glass. That
brought an end to the leaving the lock box open. The Foreman of
Maintainers, Tracy Chuck knew for certain that the interlocking was NEVER picked
by the
operators because he NEVER had to issue a piece of glass to the Leading
Signal Maintainer, Cliff Tillotson. What he DIDN'T KNOW was that Cliff could
get
a piece of glass cut for the box from Mr. Sheets at Leavittsburg Hardware
for a buck.
