John,
There are some Paterson Jct val map scans on the list photo page
archive, the link below should take you there.   I can also get a copy
of this map if you don't have it.  Going through the archives I also
found reference to some posts from Bob Bahrs during the construction of
the Main Line 2nd Track noting that the pit was being filled in during
that project.

If you haven't done so, you might consider searching the list archives
to see if there is any other useful info out there.
