(erielack) Slightly OT - the end of Western Union telegrams

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but on January 27, 2006 Western Union stopped accepting telegram orders with the last telegram being delivered on January 28.  While the telegram has long since disappeared from the public awareness, it certainly was tied to the railroads.  When did the EL (or its predecessors) stop offering Western Union telegram service?
