2006 should be a very exciting year for ELDCPS, and we kick it off by announcing our fifth annual Dinner in the Diner event at Andre’s Restaurant in Newton, NJ. This year's event will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. This four-course meal has been carefully chosen and recreated from the great menus of both the Erie and the Lackawanna Railroads as they were served in the 1940s and 1950s. The proceeds from this dinner will be used in the restoration of the Society’s two Erie Lackawanna Dining Cars, numbers 741 and 470. With your help, we will bring back the days of "Dinner in the Diner" on board these two authentic Erie Lackawanna Dining Cars. André’s Restaurant in the Lackawanna town of Newton, NJ is worth the trip alone. This charming restaurant is building a reputation for sophisticated food and outstanding service. Since its opening in 1998, it has been rated “Excellent” by the New York Times, “Three and a Half Stars” by The Star Ledger and New Jersey Monthly declared André’s “Best of the North” for the fourth year in a row. Dinner will be $75 per person for non-members and $70 per person for members. Each guest will also receive an EL gift in appreciation. Join the Society today and save $5 on “Dinner in the Diner” tickets while helping to preserve this unique piece of history. “Dinner in the Diner” is limited to 55 guests. Reservations will be accepted, space permitting, through April 20, 2006. This event has been very successful for the past four years, and we hope to have another successful event this year.
