Harold, Maybe by definition, but with respect to the Lehigh Valley, it depended on what day of the week it was and what color the guys at Sayre happened to have the most of. I always get a good laugh when people try to define it precisely. It might have been Dupont 34882 when it came from the builder, but after that...all bets were off. See if you can find a copy of Carl Steckler's book on the topic. Same with Erie Greens, DL&W maroon, take your pick. Go by a photo? On what day with what film and what cloud cover, sun angle, etc.DL&W gray was very good at taking on a blue cast when photographed on a clear day. Particularly since the Lackawanna kept it diesels pretty darned clean. On the other hand, the DL&W used Dupont Dulux Imitation Light Gold which definitely was not EL yellow!
