didn't realize that EL and DL&W switched ends on LACKAWANNA because one  end 
rode higher reducing the amount of splash on the passengers.  I found  that out 
about 20 years ago when I read Ray Baxter's book.  My two  friends and I were 
in the midst of turning the boat on that evening 40 years  ago.
