Re: (erielack) Erie Baseball Specials

        Steve and All,

The Youngstown Fire Dept. used to sponsor an excursion or two, to
Indians' games, every summer. They were chaperoned by off-duty
firefighters, and, as kids, we had a lot of fun. Part of the package was
a box lunch and souvenirs.
I remember the RS-2's and Stillwells well.
By the time I got on the job on the Y.F.D., the EL no longer ran
any passenger service, save for the Cleveland-Youngstown commuter trains.
So there wasn't much equipment (coaches, etc.) around. So there weren't
any baseball excursions sponsored by the dept.
We did try a couple of trips using buses but the response was
never good enough to justify the costs.
