RE: (erielack) PS&N / P&S

The DL&W served no bituminous mines and used bituminous for most of its 
engine coal.  Wayland was a relatively convenient junction as was Bflo, BR&P 
Jct, etc. for non-PS&N coal.  The Erie had its own engine coal sources but 
the P&S coal was (and is) used for power generation.  It is my understanding 
that the coal sales agents of the on-line coal producers were in quite a bit 
of price and quality competition.
