Re: (erielack) Old Topic: Moses Taylor Hospital

True, Harold, it was the miners hospital, but I think that was when the DL&W
owned the coal mines as well as distributing the product. I remember it as
the RR hospital.....It was there that I took my physical when I came to the
Scranton Division off the ERIE Mahoning Division in 1961. I later met an
older woman who was a passenger on the Auto-Train and when I topld her I'd
worked out of Scranton, she let me know she'd posed for some of the 'Phoebe
Snow' photos while she was a nurse at Moses Taylor. It went like this, - the
railroad would call her & set up a photo session & she would go to one of
the department stores & buy appropriate outfits. She would be paid for her
time AND was allowed to keep the clothes. As we talked, she casually
mentioned that the railroad gave her a complete set of china and silverware
from the Dining Car Dept. Coffepots and creamers too. What a treasure!! I
didn't think to get her name, but it was very pleasant reminiscing.
