(erielack) Erie URTX reefers

Does anyone know the relationship Erie had with Union Refrigerator? How many reefers they leased during the steam era? Would they be found in trains headed by 2-8-4s containing reefers for the Pacific coast and Chicago?
 
The one picture showing these in "Erie Power" is behind a 2-8-2.
 
There's a good side view of 2 of these reefers in a book of 1930s B&W photos taken in New York City by pioneer woman photographer Bernice Abbott.
