(erielack) DL&W & Erie Boxcars in Elmira - URGENT UPDATE

I was contacted Friday by a representative from Norfolk Southern regarding the two boxcars Erie 413049 and DL&W 54782 "Route of Phoebe Snow" car in the Elmira NS yard.

They want a decision as to any railway historical society or other individual claiming the cars within the next week as the cars will be cut up if no plan is arranged. They seemed somewhat reluctant on the idea of donation of the cars, but wanted all interested parties to forward information to him including not for profit status and all related things for full review.  
 
There are/were at least two interested parties, one for each car that I have since forwarded this information on to. I will let the groups in question respond more specifically if they wish, as representatives from each are on this list. 
 
The Chemung Valley RHS here in Elmira is back on course, and would accept the DL&W car, if no other party claims it, and if it can be donated, or donated funds to acquire it for scrap value - which NS estimates at just over $3000.00. 
  
 If we can arrange the donation arrangement, or a financial means to acquire one or both, keeping the cars in the Elmira yard for a bit after title is received should be no problem as I know the local powers that be.
 
I do have full contact at NS and have forwarded CVHRS's non profit status info to them in the case that one of the cars stays here. Any interested indivuals of this effort can contact me directly to help coordinate things if need be.
