Re: (erielack) Book review: Trackside in the EL NJ Commuter Zone - William Brennan

I had hoped for considerably more on the Erie side, especially Paterson to Suffern.

Subject: (erielack) Book review: Trackside in the EL NJ Commuter Zone - William Brennan

I finally bought this book and read it through several times.

The time frame covered is roughly 1960-1970, a good slice of time in the
transition between Erie and Lackawanna to Erie-Lackawanna and Erie
Lackawanna...

The photographs are good, with a few stunners. The text has a few minor
errors or things I'd question - was the Rowe Street station relocated or
rebuilt because of the Garden State Parkway, which is about 1/4 mile
west?.

My only complaints are about what ISN'T in the book:
- - M&E between Roseville and Denville
- - Gladstone Branch
- - Suffern through Port Jervis
- - The frontspiece photo of the SCRANTON at Hoboken has no caption.
Recommended for lots of photos of F's, E8's, RS's, GP7's, and a smattering
of FM's, PA's, U-boats, and other Erie or Lackawanna diesel power.
