However, a connection between the Erie Main Line and Lackawanna Boonton 
Line did exist before the elevated connection built to accommodate the 
planned abandonment of the Main Line through Passaic.  It was at grade, 
and Newark Branch trains from Waldwick or Paterson took it to connect 
with the Boonton Line briefly before leaving again for the Newark Branch 
R-O-W.
