Re: (erielack) pecking order/members ages

Lived in Hackensack NJ from 1964 until 1970, I used to watch the commuter
trains from Packard Bamberger's parking lot and the local shove a car or two
into the siding. Remember black and yellow RS's pulling all those
stillwells to Hoboken(even had a Saturday train for a short time). Spent
10-12 summers with my grandparents in Duryea PA, right next to the
Bloomsburg branch. Watched many of those trains roll by, rocking and rolling
through town on that old jointed rail. My grandfather was a retired coal
miner, we would go into Scranton to cash his check. Chocolate milk and a
cookie was always on the menu that day as we sat and watched either a yard
job or one of the passenger trains shuffling around. I eventually wound up
living on Park Ave in River Edge NJ until1983 within earshot of the U34CH's
and Comet 1 cars. Even worked on the old EL from 1971 to about 1973 or74.
Worked the majority of the time out Paterson NJ on the track gang. Well I
now live in Conklin NY, not 3/4 of a mile from the old DL&W main and maybe a
mile from the Erie main just across the river. I cannot say I saw any steam
but I have watched alot of EL action. Still watch em when time allows, of
course they are now NS, CP, and NYS&W these days.
