Brian:  You could "build" a railroad along the Delaware from Stroudsburg to Port Jervis to allow PRR New England traffic to use the O&W and the Poughkeepsie bridge to avoud the car floats and Heel Gate Bridge in New York.  Call it the Delaware & New England.

Thanks to all the responses I recieved both on and off list regarding my  questions . . ....I'd  like to create a new road, but NW Jersey is already cluttered with the  Lackwanna, Susquehanna, Lehigh & New England, Lehigh & Hudson River...I'm  going to have to ponder this a bit more...
