That was the newer Union Station, now long gone. In the previous post the
photos of the freight house lead me to believe it was built well before 1949.
My guess would be that it was built at least 20 years earlier than that.

The still standing Erie Frieght House in downtown Buffalo has ERIE spelled out
in the masonary, but I think that one is quite a bit older than Akron's.
