There isn't a lot of the Erie left in Akron, OH, but you can find bits and
pieces here and there.

Akron_Freight_House_8-7-05_3.jpg

These three photos show the old Akron Freight House, note the bay window on
what was the track side of the building and the Erie diamonds at each corner.

Akron_Yard_8-7-05.jpg

This is a view looking south toward what was once the Erie's Akron Yard
(McCoy St Yard is what my friend Jon called it) from near where the Union
Station used to be about 2/3 of a mile south of JO Tower. Note the signal
bridge to the right, I believe that was an Erie structure. The B&O color
position light signals are not long for this world, CSX already has a number
of the new Safetrans style signals placed in the area.

These two shots show the North Forge St underpass about a mile east of JO. The
paint looks great for being 45 or 50 years old and you can see the previous
paint job poking through the black. "ERIE RAILROAD" "NEW YORK BUFFALO
CLEVELAND ???? CHICAGO" The PRR, B&O, PRR and AC&Y bridges are on the other
side of the Erie.
