Re: (erielack) U34CH Sound - mp3 file

Henry,

Goosebumps! The sheer racket that the locomotive was making as it passed
is what undoubtedly caused the sound to break up. Even so, it's
unmistakable what engine it was.

Jim Gerofsky sent me a one minute MP3 sound clip of a U34CH at Great Notch.
I
have put it at http://elhts.org/content/audio/U34_GreatNotch.mp3

You'll need MP3 audio player software like Windows Media Player or Winamp
to
play it.

It's only about 700 KB in size so it shouldn't take too long to download
even
on a dialup connection.

Crank up the volume when you play it :)

Subject: U34CH Sound - mp3 file

Henry,

With all the interest on the EL List lately about U34CH sound, I've
attached an MP3 of a U34 starting up from Great Notch station (my
recording). I recall you previously posted an mp3 about an EL wreck at
this location:

http://elhts.org/content/audio/

Wonder if you might want to post the U34 file too. Unless I haven't
read something, there isn't any way yet for an EL List member to post
anything directly, other than a JPG.

For your consideration, see (and hear) attached. The first half isn't
what you'd call high fidelity, but the second half gets better, as the
U34 echos in the distance and blows for a crossing west of the station.
