Westbound...and it's a prolonged grade that made firing steam locomotives
an arduous job. I guess this means that we should also consider the "new"
Boonton Line in the discussion, which includes the Erie Greenwood Lake
Branch east of Mountain View. I believe the ruling grade on the branch is
similar to that on the Morristown Line, and in EL days it presented quite a
challenge to get those 150 car freights over the hill and around the curve
near Montclair State.
