Paul If the EL ran this service and the units were dedicated to this service. Why were the units painted in the Black and Silver Scheme instead of GMY or some other scheme? EL ran all passenger operations, and after EL, Conrail ran the passenger service. The operation was all VERY heavily subsidized by the State, however. The State finally took over all passenger operations with the formation of NJ Transit. I'm sure Art Erdman could share stories about this, since he was dispatching at that time, but I think it would be the EL dispatchers yelling at the guys in Croxton who "stole" the units for the weekend (and I'm sure the State was contacting those dispatchers asking them where the units they paid for were!) > Paul from what > your saying I take it the GP-7's they used could not handle these cars > either. Everyone scrambling. > Yikes!! And that's the reason the practice was stopped. - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org ------------------------------
