(erielack) Carfloats

The last float at 28th St was Sept 29, 1975. The LIRR's Long Island City
float terminal in Queens was EL's interchange with LIRR and was one of the
higher-volume facilities. It lasted into the 70's and may have outlasted
28th St, possibly right up to C-day, when all the LI traffic shifted to the
NYC route along the Hudson. I'm guessing the Bronx station closed in late
1969, around the time Hunt's Point opened. Thanks to all who responded to my
query.

Speaking of carfloats, what routes were served at the end of the EL? I
believe (and Vince Lee, you can authoritatively answer this one, I bet) that
the 28th St. yard lasted until 1975, but did the EL float anywhere else?
Were there still marine operations on Conrail Day?

What dates were the various float operations dropped?
