RE: (erielack) Athearn SD45-2 shots

Greetings all;

A couple of weeks ago Brian Everett wondered whether Athearn/Horizon
might offer the low-profile fans as separate parts... Brian, sorry it
took so long for me to respond; these parts have been available, from
other manufacturers, in the past, so it would be worth your while to
inquire if they still are. Those other manufacturers include:

Overland Models, Inc. Part number 9217 (info from a 1994 catalog;
availability may be scant, and they would be costly).

Precision Scale Co. offered them, either part number 3931 or 3932, I'm
not sure which (I have both empty packages). I believe that PSC offered
them in brass or plastic; both castings had flash on the underside that
was a bear to remove, but once done, they are exactly what you want. I
used the plastic ones on my Rail Power Products/Athearn SD-45's and
SD-45-2's.

Hope this helps!

Best regards;

Jim Harr

Hopefully - everyone noticed that Athearn even did the low height fans
on the roof. Certainly hope Horizon/Athearn offers these as a seperate
part - I have a couple of models I'd like to put them on.
