Randy,
As I wrote to Rick, I think this is an all or nothing proposition regarding
Scranton. Unless there's a dramatic shift in political climate, if NE PA
wants rail service, it's going to have to go as far as Scranton. And from
what I've heard, the feds don't like the numbers to Scranton. Adding to
the woes will be that let's not forget that NJ will need to fund it's share
of the project, which can hardly be assured right now, especially if NJ
thinks that PA is going to use the line to draw tourist dollars away from
NJ. It's twisted logic I realize, but that's the lay or the land as I see
it right now.

Well, for one thing -- you run the equipment to where you can service and
turn it. If Pocono Summit is a big yard with fuel and car cleaning
facilities, then that the terminal. However . . . a tank truck and a hoover
won't cut it. If only the bean counters knew beans . . .

Chuck,
You are correct about a lower ridership projection between Mt. Pocono and
Scranton.
I wonder if the bean counters have looked at the possibility of shuttle
service between the two points. Perhaps that doesn't make much sense and
someone with more knowledge than I have can address that question.
