(erielack) Walts' old TRAINS magazines - going, going, etc.

Prior to going on vacation, I began (at the behest of my wife) to list some
of my old TRAINS magazines. I went thru them when we got back from the Keys
& here's the revised list.....

MORE RECENT - 1971, 1981, 1983, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, & 2002.
These years are all complete & are $25.00 per year + $5.00 S&H.

1980 missing MAY & 1987 missing AUGUST - $20.00 + $5.00 S&H

(I just recently found the USPS will NOT ship magazines at the book rate
acct. 'THEY HAVE ADVERTISING INSIDE'. I went to send my grandsons some old
Model Railroader & had to pay more than it would have cost for a new
subscription.

OLDER - These are the 1950s and still have lots of steam & traction pix &
articles
1950 ALL except Nov & Dec $50.00
1951 ALL - $60.00
1952 ALL - $60.00
1953 - Missing- February - $55.00
1954 ALL - $60.00
1955 - Missing- July & Dec - $50.00
1956- Missing -April, May, & June - $45.00
1957 - Missing - Feb, May, Oct, Dec. - $40.00
1958 - Missing - Feb, May, August, Oct, & Dec - $35.00
1959 - Missing - Jan, April, May, July, Oct, Dec. - $30.00
When ordering single years please include $5.00 S&H. On orders of 2 or more
years, I'll pay anything over the $5.00. (actually, my wife will pay it to
get rid of MY magazines)

MUSEUM QUALITY- or as Lucius Beebe would say "The Devonian era of
railroading".
When these were printed, WW2 was still in progress & the trains were beyond
counting. Deisels were a flicker on the horizon. I was in grade school & hid
these mags under the couch from my mom.
1942 - July only - $7.00 + $2.00 S&H
1943 - May & Dec - $14.00 + $2.00 S&H
1944 - March & Dec - $14.00 +2.00 S&H
1945 - Nov & Dec - $14.00 + $2.00 S&H
1947 - ALL - in this year, TRAINS went from the small format to its' present
size. $75.00 + $5.00 S&H.
1948 - Missing - April, August, Sept, & Dec. $55.00 + $5.00 S&H
1949 - Missing - Jan & Dec - $70.00 + $5.00 S&H

A few words here......... This has to be 'first come first served'to be fair
to everyone. You might want to think about alternate choices in case ur
first choice is gone. I've tried to fill out my collection since I left the
old EL & have never seen TRAINS from the 40s & 50s except at trainshows at
exhorbitant prices.

For those of you going to the meeting in Stroudsburg, I wish I could be
there. Hey, last time I was in Stroudsburg, it was working a freight that
went over the Old Line & deadheaded back in the cab of #1. The towerman at
Port Morris called the engineer on the radio who kindly slowed down enough
for me to swing on the lead E-8 (with my grip, too). Then it was back to #8
& cross the cutoff & through the watergap. 1962 or so I think.

For those of you going to Stroudsburg, I still have some of the Bangor &
Portland dispatcher trainsheets left. They're interesting in that they show
the long-gone connections - L&NE, L&HR, etc. They are $15.00 each +$5.00
S&H. I ship them in a cardboard mailing tube to avoid damage.

While we're on this subject, I want to advise that the postal service
evidently treats mailing tubes like I used to treat the Scranton TRIBUNE
when I had a paper route as a kid. I.E. they throw it on the porch & one of
u bought a trainsheet & emailed me about not getting it. In a day or 2 he
emailed that he found it in the bushes in front of his porch - no damage,
but we both wondered for a while where it was.

I still have a few EL breakfast menus w/Nicholson Viaduct cover $5.00 ea.
& EL dinner menus w/ Nicholson Viaduct cover $5.00
LACKAWANNA RAILROAD cancelled checks w/Phoebe Snow
logo $2.00 Laminated -
                        $7.00
VERY OLD DL&W agents ticket stubs from Hallstead
(1906-07) Date stamped on back. Has old (pre-Truesdale )
DELAWARE, LACKAWANNA & WESTERN logo.
When these were validated, the cutoff wasn't yet
built (or thought of), & Hallstead was a huge yard.
$5.00 ea. as is, or $$10.00 laminated.

Minimum order $10.00 + $5.00 S&H. Cash, Ck, or moneyorder to: Walter Smith
/968 Placid Drive/Melbourne, Fl. 32935

Regards to all,
Walter E. Smith
