Paul, there were several, the schedule varying over the years. PB-99 was the Boston-Chicago piggyback off B&M/D&H. In the late 60's Scranton-99 (off CNJ) and New England-97 (off NH) were expedited and carried TOFC, but were later downgraded with the decline of CNJ and the NH absorption into PC. Beginning in 1970, UPS shifted most of it's traffic to EL due to poor service frm PC; fortuitous for EL, since this occurred as the eastbound meat business collapsed and the Maybrook gateway withered. Most of the westbound UPS business was handled by Croxton-99 although some went on Advance CX-99 which was started in 1972. NY-97 handled a lot of autos from the Ford plant in Mahwah NJ, and TOFC when ACX-99 didn't run. SLCB (St Louis Cannonball) was mostly pigs, a NY-St Louis runthru with N&W via Huntington IN which ran in the early 70's ahead of NY-99. Finally the Buffalo line saw ND-91, which was hot in the early 70's when EL tried the short-haul NY-Buffalo market. This also brings up another question - the Erie (and later EL) was a primarily eastbound-oriented railroad. Other than NY-99, what "hot" westbound trains were there?
