(erielack) Lodging location for crews

I'd like to know about lodging facilities and locations for crews in EL
days, especially on the east end.

I believe that Croxton had a Railroad YMCA in a large house type building at
County Road. I was in it once about 1966 or 1967 while waiting for a taxi
back to Hoboken.

Also, believe that Hoboken had a Railroad YMCA for the passenger crews that
was complete with individual sleeping rooms, community bathroom/shower room
and a full lunchroom. I stayed at this location on one occasion during 1966 or
 1967 if I remember correctly.

Were both of these actually 'Railroad YMCA's" or were they just railroad
operated crew bunk houses operating much like ( and called ) Railroad YMCA's?

What about at Scranton? Where where the crews lodged? Same for Binghamton?
Mr. Smith has given us great detail about private living accommodations in
this area, but did the EL actually provide accommodations?

Hornell: Was the Sherwood Hotel downtown used for lodging? I had stayed
there while qualifying as a Train Dispatcher on the Mahoning Division but was
it an actual lodging facility for crews?

After the IDR (Inter-divisional) crews started in the late 60's (anyone know
the date for certain?) many bunk houses were eliminated and crews lodged in
hotels. Kent, for instance had a bunkhouse for freight crews and sleeping
rooms above the depot for passenger engine crews. After the IDR crew runs
started, crews were lodged at the Kent Motor Inn.

Crews arriving Meadville from Cleveland, Marion, Hornell and Buffalo were
lodged at the Holiday Inn. This location was the scene of a disastrous fire in
which a couple of crew members lost their lives---believe one from Marion
and one from Hornell. This happened in the early 1970's I believe.

Passenger crews in Cleveland returned to E-55th with the train and took rest
in an old Erie 049XX series caboose. Youngstown crews taking rest in
Cleveland went to the Stirling Hotel.

Cleveland crews coming to Youngstown that required rest (rare occasion)
rested at the city's YMCA.

Meadville crew members working temporary assignments at Jamestown stayed at
the YMCA.

Meadville and Hornell crews working in to Salamanca rested in a railroad
operated bunkhouse in the yard, near the roundhouse until the mid-60's then
moved to the Dudley Hotel.
What about Buffalo? Bradford? Other locations.

Any information on this subject would be appreciated.

Thanks
