My grandmother rode this train often from Cortland to Philly to get to and
from UPenn. I too wondered what was on this train. A friend told me they
used Reading Pullmans, but I haven't read of any. I remember the RMC
article- but no mention of sleeping equipment was made.
I too would be very interested in any further information.

Subject: DL&W Sleeper Assignment
I am seeking information on the assignment of certain DL&W leased
sleepers. From 1926 to about 1932 or '33, there were two heavyweight
12&1's assigned to Pullman line # 2174 (Binghamton to Philadelphia). It was
part of a joint venture with the CNJ and the Reading. The train that carried
the cars was the Interstate Express. Do you have any information on the
names of the two cars ?
Also do you have an E-mail address for a gentleman named Joe Welsh?
He did an excellent article in Flags Diamonds and Statues back in 1993 on
the lightweight sleepers of the DL&W. The article also had good coverage on
some of the heavyweight sleepers. I think Joe is probably an authority in
this area of DL&W history ?
