(erielack) "Lackawanna" Rail

The South Buffalo (SB) RY interchanged freight directly with the B&O, Buffalo Creek (BCK), DL&W, NYC, PRR and LV. It indirectly interchanged with the Erie, NKP, Wabash, CN, Pere Marquette and Michigan Central. The Erie and NKP had trackage rights over the BCK. The Erie also interchanged with the Pere Marquette, Wabash and CN. However, the principle portion of Wabash and CN traffic going to the SB was handled over the DL&W, using its own track.

The interchange connections of the SB with the B&O, BCK and DL&W were at Station C. Station C was south of the Republic Steel Co plant and west of Donner-Hanna Coke at the location of the wye formed by the DL&W tracks as they run east from the tracks of the SB.The SB provided both inbound and outbound tracks for interchange with the Erie and NKP. The DL&W provided both inbound and outbound interchange tracks. Erie inbound interchange was B yard, immediately north of Station C. Outbound cars for Erie were held on B&O track #15.

The PRR, NYC and LV interchange tracks were at Station H, which is the interchange point with the NYC and LV. The PRR interchange tracks were usually designated Station D, although they were in the jurisdiction of Station H. Station H was south of Smokes Creek, across from the roundhouse. Staion D was a little south of this.
