But...the C&O definitely (and maybe the Pennsy or NYC? Possibly others.) 
did have actual baggage-express-automobile cars in passenger service. 
There was an article on them in the past couple of months in the C&OHS 
monthly publication. They were and looked like standard baggage cars but 
with end doors on one end like a theatrical car or some horse cars and 
were equipped with portable ramps and tie-downs for automobiles.
