RE: (erielack) scanners
Generally, a scanner cannot be used to further illegal activity. Also, a
police officer may take exception to a mobile scanner in some situations,
especially one tuned to the police channel. I've had a Uniden Bearcat base
station scanner at home for about 15 years listening to police, fire and
EMS, though I got it in high school when my friends and I were into EMS and
now I'm a volunteer firefighter so I use it mostly for monitoring fire
frequencies.
Any idea, though, what frequency the Pascack Valley Line uses and if I'd
hear much in Park Ridge?

That's why there are scanners everywhere.
