ELDCPS Convention 2005 - EL Vets 2005 Information
In tandem with the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society's first
Convention, we will also be sponsoring an Erie Lackawanna Veterans Reunion -
Vets 2005. Both events will officially begin Friday morning, October 21 and run
through Sunday, October 23 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. We would like to welcome
former veterans of the Lackawanna Railroad, the Erie Railroad, and the Erie
Lackawanna Railroad to join us for this very special event. ELDCPS will attempt
to "get the word out," and we hope to have as many "Vets" as possible join us
in Scranton for several days of camaraderie and reminiscing.

Thursday For folks coming in on Thursday, we have left this open for visiting
with friends and fellow veterans. Evening open for dinner at the Hotel, or a
local restaurant of your choice.

Friday A slide show geared to an EL related subject is planned for the
afternoon. (Possibly the slide collection of Lackawanna/EL Conductor Ed Kennedy of
Lackawanna railroaders at work on the M&E). The EL Vets and their families will
have a private reunion with open bar beginning at 4:30 PM, and running to
6:30 PM. This will only be open to Erie, DL&W and EL Vets along with their
spouses or "significant other." The 2 hour veterans reception with open bar and
snacks (cheese, crackers, fruits, etc.) will be $28 per person. Dinner will be on
your own. The Hilton has two excellent Restaurants!

Saturday We have organized a special vets-only golf outing, and people
interested in playing can take the trolley to the Golf course. (Tee off times and
nominal fee to be announced) For the spouses, we will have a charter bus to the
Crossing Outlet Mall ($16.00 per person). They will provide a promotions book
for everyone who rides the bus to the Mall. Also for the Ladies: a cooking
demonstration with the Hilton's awarding winning Four Star Chef, and a mansion
tour has been arranged.

Saturday evening The Banquet will be our top event for Saturday evening. The
banquet with 1-hour reception (cash bar) with snacks; soup, salad, main course
and Viennese Table will be $48 per person. We have several activities lined
up during the Banquet, and the main speaker will be former EL Superintendent
John R. Canfield. John will discuss the many personalities he worked with on the
Lackawanna and the EL. We also have entertainment lined up for after the
Banquet.

Sunday After a leisurely Breakfast ELDCPS will have our Annual Meeting. At
the meeting, a full report will be given on our former Erie Lackawanna passenger
equipment.

This will be a very popular event, so do not delay, make your reservations
