Lincoln , at that point Mr. - not President- is also reported to have spent 
a night snowbound in my hometown of Little Valley, NY on one of his trips on 
the Erie. I've read a reprint of the contemporary newspaper account, but 
don't have it readily available. 1855 , perhaps? The hotel in the center of 
town (destroyed by fire several years ago ) had a "Lincoln room" 
commemorating that event, although the building was not the original!
