(erielack) ELDCPS - Lackawanna Diner 470/770

To our Members and supporters:

ELDCPS VP Mike Steinberg has spoken for all of us:

"Simply put, the fans have spoken! Thanks to the overwhelming support of the
Erie Lackawanna fanbase, we are proud to announce that, in an extremely
short time period, we have raised the necessary funds to purchase Diner 470,
and the check is, as they say, in the mail! On behalf of the directors of
ELDCPS, we can't thank all of you enough for stepping up when it was needed.
We wouldn't of been able to purchase this car without your generous
financial assistance, and for that, we are grateful!"

Lackawanna Diner 470 will now be saved for all of us. The car will be
restored and operated as the Lackawanna intended, as the diner for THE PHOEBE SNOW.
We can now move forward in raising the additional funds for insurance and
movement of the car from Tenino, Washington.

As soon as we have this accomplished, we can begin to work on applying for
the grants to restore the car.

BNSF Trainmaster and ELDCPS member Bob Stafford drove down to the AOE
facility earlier this month to inspect the car, and speak with the AOE Carmen. Bob's
comments are as follows:

"I spoke to the two Carmen who ran the air and inspected
the running gear on the car. They told me they had to
repair the hand brake, it was not working. All the air
comports passed. They also did a visual inspection of
the running gear and put the wheel gauge on the
flanges. Looks like she is ready to go. I hope you are
sending her BNSF out of here so she will make it down
south in a timely manor. I will admit that she does
look naked in stainless steel. I still recognized her
right away as soon as I spotted her.

Again, I would like to thank everyone who donated to this very worthy cause.
I also look forward to meeting many of you at the ELDCPS Convention at
Scranton this October.

I addition, work continues unabated on EL Diner 741. The new roof looks
great. This shop has been doing great work. At some time during the convention, I
will give a complete report on our equipment, and time frame for completion.

Kind regards,

John Boehner, VP - Operations
ELDCPS
