Time to change the calendar! (yes, a day early :) The February image has a nifty shot of brand-new EL GE U36C diesels (3317 and 3325 head out) at GE's plant in Erie, PA (that explains the catenary structures in the background). They are brand-spanking-new, and are exceptionally clean and shiny. The reproduction is a bit intense (focus gets a little fuzzy around areas of high contrast, such as the number on the 3317's cab), but otherwise it's a neat scene of brand new power ready to head out and earn its keep on the EL. Personal thought: The one thing that always somewhat bothered me about the GE U33C and U36C units was the fact that their side sill was so deep. The yellow sidesill almost appeared to be overkill in this circumstance. I certainly would have enjoyed seeing only the lower half or lower 1/3 of the sidesill in yellow, with the rest above it in gray... - Paul _____________________ Paul R.
