Manville Wakefield also authored a book on the O&W primarily from Liberty south which also featured his artistic talents including a very nicely done rendition of the Mountaineer for the dust jacket painting. It is a very engaging treatise on the Summer trade the Catskills, like the Poconos participated in during the first three or four decades of the 20th century. Manville's book, much like Robert Mohowski's book on the O&W milk trains and motor cars has appeal beyond just the O&W. Although describing the service of a particular road, they provide insight into similar regional operations of roads like the DL&W and to a lesser extent, the Erie.
