Subject: (erielack) 33 years ago 1/4/1972 Today’s dispatch sheet shows the following nteresting points: Eastbound Marion shows train “Plastic Extra” w/ 3623-3622-3626 cab 375, 75/1. Anyone have any insight into “Plastic Extra”? >> Might that be "Passaic?" Passaic Jct was also called BT, and we had a BT Ordinary, etc, on the NY Division in the late 1960's. It's possible that even a Marion dispatcher could transmogrify the name, especially on third trick. Gordon and list--- I don't believe that Marion would make up a train for Passaic and I don't ever remember seeing a "Plastic Extra" It's winter, and that many years ago, the lakes would be closed. The lakes always closed about 12/01 until late March. Perhaps this COULD be a P&LE extra with ore off of the Soo or someplace for Youngstown, Aliquippa, Neville Island, Monessen, etc. Winter ore trains were ran on occasion and would be in MILW, SOO, DM&IR or other ore road's cars including C&NW. Thoughts? smt ------------------------------
