Ken: Sorry for the delay. I planned to write back over the weekend but didn't get the opportunity where I had the book and my laptop fired up at the same moment. In addition, I'm leaving Friday for a 10 day business trip to China so time has been at a premium. I just went through over 100 emails so I haven't been keeping up with the ELHS list in the last 10 days or so. The book is: "The Delaware & Hudson Canal and the Gravity Railroad" written by Matthew M. Osterberg published by Arcadia Publishing ISBN 0-7385-1087-4 Library of Congress Catalog Card # 2002108390 If you do get the book, you'll notice that the photos of the canal appear to be almost "highway-like" in their broad sweeps and graded towpaths. It reminds me of driving up NY Rt 17 through the Sullivan and Delaware Counties from Rockland County up to Binghamton, NY [before I moved to Binghamton]. Enjoy!
