Paul, Diesel Era has an article on EL's SDP45s in the Septemer-October, 2004 issue. There's a roster/disposition atble at the end of the article that has obvious errors (unfortunately, typical of Withers' puiblications). The only remaining "unrebuilt" SDP is the old 3657, which is now Montana Rail Link 332. Good photo in the article of it, apparently has not yet been painted in the Washington Corp scheme. The six SP/UP rebuilds ex-EL's are also listed. The article lists WC6634/EL 3656 now as IHB 7601 but we now know that is not the case...recent report says in might have been quietly scrapped in Mexico, this needs to be checked out...it did not go to RailWorld, according to informed sources on WC/CN. HLCX 6515 is a former EL SDP that has been rebuilt to SD40-3 with original carbody. The article lists this unit as scrapped but I believe this to be quite wrong. It is apparently in service either on CSX or UP at present. HLCX 9516 was reported scrapped at Boise which I think may be correct. Anyone else who can jump in here and provide more info, please do..... Fred Hyde Madison, WI ------------------------------
