I worked for IR at Phillipsburg in 1955 and married the daughter of one of the superintendents. They had one of these box cabs at the plant at least until 1976, because it was given a bi-centennial paint job (i'll see if I can find a picture). I'm not sure what pieces IR contributed, but I'm positive they were assembled at Phillipsburg which was a major heavy equipment manufacturing facuility. I've been to the other IR plants at Athens, PA and Painted Post, NY, and they were not likely to have been involved. The Central RR of NJ got one numbered 1000 which is in the B&O train museum in Baltimore.
