Listers, I’m in possession of the dispatcher sheets from Marion for the month of January 1972 and thought I would start out the New Year by posting some info from them every day (if I can keep up). Just a few tidbits and oddities. So, here goes installment #1 – January 2, 1972 Eastward Marion: trains 62/78 ran as one with 2555-2526-3658 cabs 354-357 63LD 39MT. Question: since 62 was Marion to Cleveland and 78 to Youngstown, how did this work? Was the train broken up at Leavittsburg when normally 62 would do a runaround and then head toward Cleveland? Eastward Marion: NE74 with foreign power BN 6448-5755-6490 cabs 336 (also with 896 from Chicago, set out at Marion). Left Chicago with 58LD 2MT, left Marion 54-1 Eastbound Chicago: train ordered out of Chicago at 2110 with 3314-3310-2564-2404 cab 877 40LD 3MT arr Marion 0535. This train was simply TOFC. No 98 or 74 or 100. Thoughts? Westbound Kent: PO89/TC99 with 2560-2457-2415-7092-2459-2577 37LD 92 MT cab 340. I see TC99 in my freight classification book, but not PO89. Thoughts? Well, that’s it for the first installment. Hopefully I’ll be able to do these throughout the month. Steve ------------------------------
