Re:Re: (erielack) Unansered Questions

Will,

That was before I realized what the true situation is. Members have no power whatever; the by-laws are scant in meaning and impossible of enforcement. And nobody cares.

Michael Dye's letter makes good points, one of them inadvertent but quite telling: his ELHS number is 1516. Mine is 16. 1500 people joined the ELHS in the intervening years. How many stayed? How many do we have now? What is our current highest membership number?

Those are questions which can be answered.

The ones who stayed are relatively happy with the organization.

The difference represents those who left for whatever reason.

Then, when we compare any of those numbers with the number of people corresponding or speaking to the situation -- pro, con, indeterminant -- we will realize that nobody, in the overall, cares.

We exist; we are not bankrupt; nobody is embezelling.

Yes, we need new members. Don't we? How many are joining new each year? How do we get them? How could we get more?

How many are leaving? How could we keep them?

These are the issues. Why can't somebody address them instead of endless sniping at each other in front of the kids?

Again -- I really would like to know what our highest member ID number is. It would tell us a lot. It should be available from the rolls or the mailing list.

Randy,

I must admit I find some of your replies rather curious, 2 and a half months ago you where one of the people on this list speaking out the loudest for compliance with the by-laws and having the financial statement available.
