You are correct - the 16 was in a bright red with yellow stripes and lettering (the yellow striping is beginning to come through, if you look closely at the picture). The 17 wore a forest green scheme with yellow striping. Why? The railroad's president, George Clark, claimed it made the roster look "much bigger." (Gotta love that shortline mentality! :) Both were repainted in the late 1970s into the maroon (or red oxide?) scheme with white lettering/striping that appears in the picture. It will be restored into the as-delivered bright red with yellow striping. - Paul ------------------------------
