"IRON MINE RAILROADS of NORTHERN NEW JERSEY" by Larry Lowenthal, published by Tri-State, covers all the little railroads in this area, and the Ferromonte rates six pages including a full-page map. I think the Dover and Rockaway Township libraries have copies in the reference (i.e. non-circulating) collections. If not, I have a copy you can look at. Within the next year or two, Tri-State intends to publish a revised updated edition. The Chester Branch (DLW) lies mostly north-south at this area. If you are facing away from Dover, that's railroad WEST. Your left is railroad SOUTH but compass EAST. The Ferromonte Railroad lay to the EAST (railroad south, yes) of the DLW, south of US 46 with an interchange track to the north that also reached the CNJ High Bridge Branch about where the modern connection (built by Morris County so the CNJ could be abandoned through Wharton) is. The connection today is in the northwest quadrant (as you go west from Chester Jct, on the right before crossing the CNJ) while the Ferromonte connection was in the southeast quadrant (on the left, after the CNJ). The map shows this quite well. The junction with the DLW was called Vanatta Jct; with the CNJ Ferromonte Jct. - --- Lederer73_@_aol.com wrote: > The DL&W siding, it must appear on the West (RR south) side of the > main, no? > Where does it show the Ferromonte going?
